It’s been about eleven years since my husband and I said “I do,” and looking back I can honestly say there are a few regrets I had about that special time. Some petty, some … not so much.
My then fiancé and I didn’t have an engagement session. I can’t even remember now if the idea even came up. If so, it probably had to do with money.
I now wished we had engagement pictures to look back on.
We don’t have many non-wedding frame-worthy photos with just the two of us when we were dating.
We took lots of trips and took a ton of pictures before we were married, but most were selfies using a real camera (bad angles!) or the trust of a stranger walking by (not always dependable!).
And now we have kids – three of them, in fact, which doesn’t lend too many times to think about taking pictures of just the two of us.
It would have been so nice to capture the real us when we were young and – how shall I put it—giddy? Pictures that tell our story with us in the everyday raw, away from the done-up make-up, perfect hair and posh attire.
And you know, if money is an issue, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Cameras, even phone cameras now, take such great pictures that you just need a helping hand. And sometimes, wedding photographers will tack on an engagement session for a nominal fee.
Now seeing all of these sweet engagement pictures on Pinterest, ohhhhhhhhwweeee, makes me want them even more!
Here’s some of favorites that I’ve been swooning over lately:
